OUR FRIEND

With Andrew Jackson's letter to the Cherokees as reference, this piece brings light to the history of the Cherokees and the horrible lies told to my people. March 16th, 1835, Andrew Jackson sent the Cherokees a letter in which he urges the Cherokees to give up and move out west in a condescending tone. Repeatedly, he "assured" the Cherokees that he was their friend and he was doing this with their best interest in mind.
"I have no motive, my friends, to deceive you...Circumstances that cannot be controlled, and which are beyond the reach of human laws, render it impossible that you can flourish in the midst of a civilized community. You have but one remedy within your reach. And that is, to remove to the West..."
The title "Our Friend" reference Andrew Jackson's fake concern for my people and serves the purpose of saying "can you believe what my friend told me."
